IN TANDEM
March 16 / April 20 2000
Curated by Zishan Ugurlu PhD
We are proud to be inaugurating our Gallery with a show featuring dialog between Greek and Turkish artists living in New York.
Greek born Artist Eleni Mylonas has worked in photograph, sculpture and geometric abstraction and has exhibited extensively in Europe and the U.S. During the month of April, Mylonas has a major show of her recent work at the Foundation of Hellenic Culture and Art Resources Transfer in Chelsea.
In this exhibition we will be showing Meteorite I and II and Black Cross. These works bridge human history from the rocks and stones at the dawn of time which later formed the statues and monuments of Greek civilization to today, to modern civilization that is defined by it?s lack of structure and reliance on ephemera.
Turkish born Artist Ertugrul Ates is well-known and critically acclaimed in Turkish and International Art circles. His recent work will be shown in Copenhagen in Denmark during the month of April. Ates is a painter that blends surrealistic, conceptual and romantic elements. His works evoke presence and absence, landscape and anatomy, the possible and impossible and transcend spatial and logical limits to reveal a unique, profoundly moving vision.
These two visions encapsulate the universal language of art, which communicates truths that are the foundation of humanity.
