The Gallery at The Marmara-Manhattan Brings Art Lovers Face to Face with
American Painter Will Corwin

NEW YORK, January 2002 - "Face It," an exhibition by American painter Will
Corwin, will be on display from January 17 through April 17, 2002 at The
Gallery at The Marmara-Manhattan. Recently declared the "it" boy of the
downtown art scene by the East Village paper The Villager, Corwin's
fascination with the human face is the inspiration for his latest show.

Corwin creates his paintings using high-gloss enamel acrylics on plaster
attached to wooden panels and smoothed using a plexi-glass sheet. This
casting process generates air bubbles, adding eerie texture to the painting
and making the image of the face just one layer of the piece.

"An artist is somebody who doesn't simply look at the world but interprets
what he sees - that's exactly what Will Corwin does with this exhibit," said
Zishan Ugurlu, curator at The Gallery at The Marmara-Manhattan. "He has the
unique ability to look at a face and see its distinct elements as well as
the experience that helped shape it. "

After receiving his BA from Princeton University, Corwin went to London to
work as an assistant to Richard Patterson, whose work appeared in the
"Sensation" exhibit. In the past few years, Corwin's work has been
exhibited in galleries including La MaMa La Galleria, The Seventh and Second
Gallery, The Life Club, and The Lucas Gallery.
