The Gallery at The Marmara-Manhattan is pleased to announce an extraordinary exhibition of photographs by Brian Dilg.
Brian Dilg creates dream-like scenes that reveal the richness of his visual moments and allow us to share with him serenity and silence in very loud and chaotic world. His captivating images are rest for the eye and ear.
As a film maker, he instinctively recognizes the source of his inspiration and the source of light with a deep sense of intimacy, and tells the magical and terrifying story of the human condition: loneliness, isolation, and the sensation of being overwhelmed by the modern landscape. His seductive images are meditative experience for the viewer, akin to elegiac poetry or music. He states "I stalk the late hours when darkness, cold or rain blanket the chaos in some semblance of quiet. The still frame quiets and isolates a single moment, slowing it to a permanent, unmoving and manageable silence."
In the end, the print charts his dedication and commitment to his unique vision for the unrepeatable moment. Brian Dilg studied photography, drawing and printmaking at the School of Visual Arts in New York, The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, the Art Institute of Boston and The Santa Fe Photographic Workshops. In addition, he has studied cinematography, writing and directing at the Boston Film/Video Foundation and the International Film and Television Workshops. He studied classical and contemporary music for over twenty five years, graduating with honors from Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has been making photographs since his father and grandfather introduced him to photography as a child. He currently makes fiction films as well as creating film sequences for the theater, accepts occasional commercial photography assignments, and teaches photography and digital imaging.
